Giuseppe Diotti's bust

1837

Gaetano Manfredini  (Bologna, 1800 - Milano, 1870)

The marble bust, realised by Gaetano Manfredini, is a simplified copy of the official version, outlined by drapery, offered to Diotti by his students in 1837. It is still kept today in the Accademia Carrara.

The "domestic" version of the bust had probably an important and representative role in the house of the artist in Casalmaggiore because in the selling document of Asilo Chiozzi's palace (1883), the heirs let it as a donation to be conveniently exposed "to remember this celebrity".
