Woman from Milan-Coree

1961

Giuseppe Guerreschi  (Milano, 1929 - Nizza, 1985)

Among Giuseppe Guerreschi's highest achievements there are the chalcographies, very refined in the complex articulation of the sign, which denounce the so-called "coree", which are the degraded areas of the new suburbs marked by the first immigrant phenomena.

Guerreschi was certainly the most charismatic figure of the so-called Existential Realism and the one who was able to weave the most intense dialogue with the intellectuals of his time, from the sociologist Danilo Montaldi, from whom come, thanks to the Montaldi-Seelhorst donation, some fundamental graphic works of the '50s and '60s, to the poet and critic Piero del Giudice, through whose bequest the Diotti Museum received three graphic works from the 70s and 80s (in the showcase), later published in Inveramento a M., a poetic collection linked to the most difficult period of Del Giudice's human and political life.

In the time span between these two moments, the civil commitment of the artist has never failed, supported by a hard look that uses a very original and sometimes disorienting assembly of visual elements only apparently heterogeneous, as well as the burin "used as a whip".
