Palace's facade

1837

Fermo Zuccari  (Casalmaggiore, 1807 - Milano, 1869)

Giuseppe Diotti bought this palace overlooking the Saint Stephan's Contrada (then Via Vittorio Emanuele, today Via Formis) in 1837, when he decided to return in Casalmaggiore after his retirement from Accademia Carrara.

The architect in charge for the restoration was Fermo Zuccari, operative in Milan but originally from Casalmaggiore. He was the author of this facade's drawing characterized by a sober neoclassical style.

Some years later Fermo Zuccari won a contest against Luigi Voghera and Carlo Visioli and landed the project of the restoration of the nearby St. Stephan’s church.

Zuccari was Neera's father (pseudonym of Anna Zuccari Radius), a famous Italian writer in the second XIX century.
