Sugar factory

1959

Tino Aroldi  (Casalmaggiore, 1915 - 2000)

As in a great share of contemporary artistic research, Tino Aroldi's painting confronts everyday life, the related social problems and the theme of work, especially the rural one, which is now dominant.

The Suzzara Prize has a central role – starting from 1948 – and constrained the participants to the theme of "Work and art workers". Aroldi took part in many editions of the Prize, including the 1959 edition when he exposed the painting Fabbrica (also known as Sugar factory), a glimpse into the industrial landscape. The works had a documentary intention bound to civic engagement and moral tension.
